Assessment of the project for awareness solid waste management in the city

The project of awareness raising on solid waste management, invested by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, is implemented in 3 localities in the province, namely Uong Bi city, Co To district and Ba Che district. The project was started from November 2018. In Uong Bi city, the project was piloted in zone 6, Thanh Son ward.

Up to now, the City People's Committee, Thanh Son ward has cooperated with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, GB Global Information System Integration Joint Stock Company to propagate and guide the classification of garbage at home. families at 11/11 residential areas in Thanh Son ward; visual propaganda at main roads and propaganda through loudspeaker systems of villages.

GB Global Information System Integration Joint Stock Company has handed over 90 garbage collection trucks of all kinds, 201 inorganic, organic, and recyclable trash to Uong Bi Urban Construction and Environment Joint Stock Company. and Thanh Son ward People's Committee; distributed bio-plastic bags to 4,650 households.

Through the initial assessment of the pilot implementation of the project to raise awareness of solid waste management in Thanh Son ward, has not really brought into play its effectiveness, the majority of people have not formed a habit of classifying garbage in their family. The situation of dumping garbage at the wrong time or at the wrong place still exists; The pilot organic waste disposal complex has not been operated yet.

In order to continue implementing the project effectively, at the end of May 2018, Thanh Son Ward People's Committee and functional departments and related units agreed to deploy the project concentrated in 3 roads of Thanh Son ward. is Thanh Son road, Ly Thuong Kiet street and Tue Tinh street. Accordingly, functional units and branches continue to strengthen propaganda, advocacy, and awareness raising of people about the classification of waste at households. Uong Bi Urban Construction and Environment Joint Stock Company carried out the collection after classification in accordance with regulations, transporting organic waste to the pilot organic waste treatment area of ​​the project at area 10, Thanh ward. Paint. Up to now, people's awareness has been somewhat raised, many households have arranged 2 trash cans to classify garbage.

At the conference, delegates discussed and commented on difficulties and problems that exist in the project implementation process and proposed solutions such as: proposing to adjust the size of containers. garbage in residential areas to facilitate collection; strengthen supervision of garbage disposal and collection in residential areas
